Explore the Danube-Bend on cruise ships

Although Budapest is wonderful, the sultry hot summer weeks can be devastating after a while. The one-day river cruises can be great adventures for the cantankerous little ones and their parents.
If you discovered all the ice cream stands, green parks and fountains in the capital, you might want some vivifying for your summer days in Budapest. At first, travelling to other cities might sound like another torture but here is an option that offers both a nice journey and a nice destination.

MAHART (Hungarian Shipping Company) launches one-day circuits on the Danube – departing and arriving in Budapest – to Szentendre, Visegrád and Esztergom.

Szentendre, this beautiful town with cosy little streets is only 20 km from Budapest. It is known for the lovely cafés, art galleries and museums that connect art with the presence of living nature.
Visegrád Castle
Visegrád Castle

Visegrád with less than 2,000 inhabitants is the smallest city in Hungary but there is a reason why it can proudly use this title: it used to be the residence of the king in the 14th century. What remains is a castle, a palace and an absolutely stunning view of the surrounding mountains, towns and the Danube itself.

Esztergom was the capital of Hungary between the 10th and 13th century and is still the centre of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary. The Basilica is the largest church in the country with a notable ecclesiastical collection.
