Granny Project
Three grandsons embark with their grannies on an exciting journey into the past. This film is the result of a seven-year-long investigation of three young men, discovering the extraordinary lives of their grandmothers: an English spy, a dancer from Nazi Germany and a Hungarian communist Holocaust survivor.
A complex road movie about intergenerational dialogue in Great Britain, Germany and Hungary. The three grannies speak with great honesty about life, death, war, love and family secrets, while the three grandsons are quizzing them untiringly. It is a film born out of curiosity, but the mutual love and respect between the participants makes it really work, while it presents the tale of three different cultures, societies and ideologies, the struggles one had to go through in the 20th century in order to survive, and how this heritage can be passed over to the younger generation.
