CINEMA CITY MOVIE THEATERS REMAIN OPEN (WITH RESTRICTIONS)! Presumptuous but well meaning Emma Woodhouse is one of the most popular Jane Austin characters, and audiences could admire her in many different television series and films. Here comes the latest adaptation, a humorous and modern affair starring the excellent Anya Taylor-Joy.
Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. Directed by rock photographer and music-video veteran Autumn de Wilde, this latest Emma is a modern and often hilarious cinema experience which aims at seducing the younger generations who skipped reading Austin's novels. A glittering satire of social class and also a coming-of-age film: Emma must venture through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along. Excellent actors, beautifully photographed scenes, witty dialogues, humour and emotion: all the ingredients of a good Jane Austin adaptation.
