Sometimes our best intentions cause major damages: Alice is a single mother and a dedicated plant breeder at a corporation engaged in developing new species. She experiments with a special flower which can make people happy with its scent.
Alice even takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. Soon strange things start to happen around the genetically manipulated flower: though it certainly affects the mental state of the people, the result goes beyond having a potent antidepressant. This unique sci-fi captures the spectators with its pastel colors, strong atmosphere and charismatic actors, but unfortunately the audience discovers the key of the mystery too soon, so the tension disappears after a while. Though it's easy to interpret the film as a message about the controversial effects of antidepressants, the moral dilemma on which the director focuses seems a bit banal.
